  14. I think the tune most developers are singing at this point is that
  15. this is the last Christmas selling season for 16-bit product.  I've read
  16. that sales of 16-bit software this year are already off 25% compared to
  17. same time last year.  Last year was 16-bit's peak, already its in decline.
  18. The only question that remains is which 32/64 bit platform your favorite
  19. developer is chosing to support.  With EA, apparently (and predictably)
  20. it looks like 3DO.  This is what has got Nintendo worried, I think, since
  21. most of the 32/64-bit machines are CD-ROM, its going to be a hard sell for
  22. expensive carts in a CD-dominated marketplace.  The new hardware is all
  23. similar enough in abilities and implementation that you may see all the 
  24. platforms survive initially with companies porting their stuff to 3 or 4
  25. machines instead of just 2 now, with a further shakeout later as the market
  26. saturates.  All IMHO.
